Even though I don’t use Microsoft Office Word very often, I prefer using it while writing long articles at night as it offers a dark background, unlike some other programs.
Aptos is the new default font in the latest version of Office Word, both on Windows and Mac. While there is nothing wrong with it, I feel that Aptos font isn’t easy to read. Every time I start the program and start a new document, I need to change the default font and font size. While one can quickly change the font and font size with keyboard shortcuts, wouldn’t it be better if you could set your favorite font and font size as default to avoid changing them each time?
Luckily, changing the default font and font size in Office Word is quite simple and possible without the help of third-party programs. In the Word program, you can change many default settings, including font, font style, font color, font size, effects, paragraph spacing, and indentation.
If some of the default settings of Word aren’t working for you, you can easily configure Word to change the default font and font size. Follow the instructions below to change the default settings in Microsoft Office Word.
Change default font settings in Office Word on Windows
Step 1: Open the Word program using search or any other method.
Step 2: Simultaneously press the Ctrl + Shift + F key to open the Font dialog.
Step 3: Here, select your favorite font, font style, font size, and color.
Step 4: Finally, click the Set As Default button. When you see the following dialog box, please select the second option labelled All documents based on the Normal template and then click OK to save the new settings.
And if you are using Office Word on a Mac, refer to our how to change default font and font size Office Word on Mac guide.

After posting a comment, then clicking the POST COMMENT button, I see ” May 9, 2019 at 4:25 am”. The correct time and date would be “May 8, 2019 AT 6:55 pm”.

FONT SIZE: WORD 2016 I normally work in VIEW/draft. In that setting, some, but not all, font changes are seen on the screen. However, a change in font size does not register on the screen in draft mode. To see those changes, go to VIEW/Print Layout which shows the change in size, and also any font change not shown in draft – eg. Cambria. It may be that under Options someplace one can see the font size change in draft, but if so I haven’t located it.
I would prefer that the draft mode WORD 2016 be fixed so any changes can be seen on screen.
