Web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Microsoft Edge are updated frequently to add new features, fix bugs, and improve security.
Just like its competitors, Mozilla also regularly pushes out updates to its Firefox web browser.
With default settings, the Firefox browser is updated automatically in the background. If a restart is required, Firefox shows a pop-up asking to restart the browser.
That said, if you wish to manually check for updates, you can do so as well. This guide shows you how to manually update the Firefox browser to the latest version on a PC running Windows 11.
Method 1 of 3
Update Firefox to the latest version on Windows 11 PC
NOTE: This method cannot be used to update the Firefox browser installed from the Microsoft Store. Please use the directions in Method 3.
Step 1: Launch the Firefox browser.
Step 2: In the Firefox toolbar, click the menu icon (refer to the picture below), click Help, and then click About Firefox.
Step 3: Clicking the About Firefox option will bring up the About Mozilla Firefox dialog. Firefox will now automatically check for available updates. If available, updates are automatically downloaded and installed.
If asked to reboot to complete installing updates, please do so.
If no updates are available, the dialog shows the “Firefox is up to date” option.
Method 2 of 3
Another way to update the Firefox browser in Windows 11
NOTE: This method does not help you update the Firefox browser if it’s installed from Microsoft Store. Please use the instructions in Method 3.
Step 1: Visit this page of the Mozilla website and download the Firefox installer for the Windows operating system.
Step 2: Double-click the downloaded installer file to install the latest version of Firefox.
Note that the installer only upgrades the Firefox installation to the latest version. Your data, such as passwords, browsing history, and bookmarks, will be retained during this process.
Method 3 of 3

Step 2: Launch the Microsoft Store app using search.
Step 3: On the left pane of the Store app, click Downloads to open the Updates and Downloads page.
Step 4: On this page, click the Get updates button to update all installed apps to their latest version, including Firefox.
