If you are wondering, Microsoft does not offer an option to download DirectX 12 because DirectX 12 is part of Windows 11 by default! To be precise, DirectX 12 is preinstalled with Windows 11, just like other components.
DirectX is an integral part of the Windows operating system and is installed automatically when you install or upgrade to Windows 11. Because of this, Microsoft does not offer a standalone installer package.

Step 1: In the Start menu or taskbar search field, type dxdiag and then press the Enter key. This will open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
Step 2: Switch to the System tab by clicking on it. Here, the DirectX Version line should display DirectX 12 as your version number.
As of writing this article in February 2025, DirectX version 12 is the latest version of DirectX available for Windows 11.
