Microsoft Office 365 suite includes popular Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and a few other apps. Unlike the perpetual version of Microsoft Office (like Office 2024 or 2024), Microsoft Office 365 is updated regularly to add new features and fix issues.
With default installation settings, Microsoft Office 365 is updated automatically. This means that users do not need to do anything from their end to keep Microsoft Office apps up-to-date. However, if you feel that Office apps are not being updated, you can try to manually update them.
Check the Office 365 version installed on your Windows 11/10 PC
Step 1: Open Office Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
Step 2: Click the File menu and then click Account to open the Account page.
Step 3: Here, under Product information, the About section displays the currently installed version number of Office 365 (refer to the picture below).
Update Office 365 to the latest version on Windows 11/10 PC
Step 1: Open an Office application such as Word, for instance.
Step 2: Once launched, click the File menu and then click Account.
Step 3: On the right side of the page, under the Product information section, click the Update options button and then click the Update now option.
NOTE: If the Update now option is missing, please click the Enable Update option to see the Update now option.
Step 4: The Microsoft Office 365 suite will now check for updates and install the same, if available. Please note that all Office 365 apps that are part of the suite will be updated. During this, you can continue using Office apps while downloading updates.
Step 5: Once all updates are downloaded, you will be asked to close Office apps to install updates. Please close all running Office 365 apps and then click the Continue button to install the downloaded updates.
Once done, you will see the “Updates were installed” message. That’s it!
You may start using Microsoft Office 365 apps again.

Update Office 365 apps via the Microsoft Store
In addition to the method mentioned above, the Microsoft Store can also be used to update Office 365 apps to the latest version, provided you have installed Microsoft Office 365 from the Microsoft Store. Here is how.
Step 1: Launch the Microsoft Store app using search.
Step 2: On the left pane of the Store app, click Downloads to see all apps installed from the Store app.
Step 3: Here, click the Get updates button to check for updates for all installed apps and then automatically install updates.
