Many times, we copy important or useful text from the web or documents but forget to save it. How do we find previously copied text in Windows 11 computer? The answer is the built-in clipboard.
As you might know, all copied items automatically go to a place called Clipboard on your PC. The built-in Clipboard Manager in Windows 11 can help you see previously copied text with ease.
Before we tell you how to view recently copied text, remember that the method works only if the Clipboard history feature is turned on. If the Clipboard history feature is turned off, you cannot view previously copied text.
View recently copied text in Windows 11
Step 1: On your Windows 10/11 PC, simultaneously press Windows logo and V keys to open the Clipboard history flyout.
Step 2: Here, the Clipboard history tab shows all recently copied text under it.
And if you get “Turn on clipboard history to copy and view multiple items” message, it’s because the Clipboard history feature is turned off on your Windows 11 PC. Please turn on the same (scroll down to see the instructions).
Step 3: To copy text from the Clipboard manager, click the three dots next to it, and then click the Paste as Text (refer to the picture below) icon.
Step 4: You may now paste the copied text to any app of your choice. For instance, you can paste the copied text into the Notepad or Office Word app and save it.
Tip: You can also delete the history of previously copied text by clicking the three dots next to it and then clicking the delete icon.
Turn on or off Clipboard history in Windows 11
Step 1: Open the Settings app. On the left side, click System. Now, on the right side, click Clipboard to see Clipboard settings.
Step 2: Here, turn on the Clipboard history feature by moving the toggle button (next to Clipboard history) to the On position. That’s it!
From now onwards, you can use Windows logo + V hotkey to view previously copied text.
