Is your Windows 10/11 PC’s Bluetooth adapter not working properly? Are you not able to connect a Bluetooth device such as a keyboard, mouse, or phone to your PC? Restarting the Bluetooth driver might fix the problem.
Most of the Bluetooth connectivity issues can be resolved by running the built-in Bluetooth troubleshooter in Windows 10/11. However, at times, the Bluetooth troubleshooter might not be able to fix the issue.
One of the easiest ways to fix common Bluetooth issues is to restart the Bluetooth driver. This guide shows you how to restart the Bluetooth driver in Windows 10/11.
NOTE: If restarting the Bluetooth driver does not fix the issue, you can consider reinstalling the Bluetooth driver.
Follow the given below directions to restart the Bluetooth driver in Windows 10 and 11.
Steps to restart the Bluetooth driver in Windows 10 and Windows 11
Step 1: Open the Device Manager. To do that, right-click the Start button (Windows logo button) on the taskbar and then click the Device Manager option.
Step 2: In the Device Manager, expand the Bluetooth tree to your Bluetooth adapter’s entry. Note that the tree might also show multiple entries if other Bluetooth devices, such as a keyboard and mouse, are connected.
NOTE: If the Bluetooth tree or adapter’s entry is missing, it’s likely because the Bluetooth device driver is not installed on your computer. Please download the correct Bluetooth driver from your PC manufacturer’s website and install the same.
Step 3: Perform a right-click on the Bluetooth adapter’s entry and then click the Disable device option.
When asked for confirmation, click the Yes button.
Step 4: Finally, right-click on the Bluetooth adapter’s entry again and then click the Enable device option. That’s it! You just have restarted the Bluetooth driver.
Tip: On a Windows 11 PC, Bluetooth can be quickly turned off/on right from the quick settings flyout, which shows up when you click on the network/battery/volume icon on the taskbar (Windows + A).
