How To Turn Off Window Borders Color In Windows 11

When it comes to personalizing the Windows operating system, there are multiple options. Every user likes to customize the operating system in their way. Microsoft certainly knows this and offers plenty of personalization options in Windows 11.

With default settings, Windows 11 shows the accent color on window borders. The window border color looks good when using a light theme. However, it does not look good at all while using the dark theme or dark mode theme, in our humble opinion. As you can see in the picture below, it uses red for window borders in one of the offered dark themes. Thus, while using a dark theme, window borders get highlighted, which some users might like, some not.

If you do not like the default color used for window borders, you can change the accent color to something you like. However, many users want to turn off the window border color completely.

Luckily, like everything else, you can configure the Windows 11 operating system not to show the window border color. Here is how to do it.

Turn off window border color in Windows 11

IMPORTANT: Turning off color on window borders will also turn off the color on title bars.

Step 1: Open the Settings app. If you do not know how to open the Settings app, perform a right-click on the Start button on the taskbar and then click Settings. Alternatively, you can use the Windows + I keyboard shortcut to open the Settings app.

Step 2: On the left pane, click Personalization. Now, on the left-side, click Colors.

Step 3: You are now seeing the Settings > Personalization > Colors page. Here, scroll down the page and turn off Show accent color on title bars and windows borders. That is it! The change should be immediately visible.

Remember that once you turn off color for window borders, the same will be turned off for all themes. So, you cannot apply this change only to a specific theme.
