Quickly Optimize Windows 10 For Best Battery Life

Windows 10 is optimized for battery life by default settings. But if you want to extend the battery life without attaching an additional battery to your device, there are numerous ways to optimize your Windows 10 laptop or tablet device for better battery life.

You can reduce the screen brightness, disable background apps, turn off or reduce the intensity of the keyboard backlight, close battery draining programs or use power efficient programs (for instance Edge helps you preserve more battery life than its competitors), reduce the speaker volume, disconnect USB devices, turn off Wi-Fi when not using, turn off the fluent design, and tweak many other settings to get the best possible battery life.

Windows 10 has a built-in feature to conserve the battery life when the battery level is low. The battery saver feature in Windows 10 automatically kicks in when the battery level drops to below 20%.

You can obviously configure when you want Windows 10 to automatically turn on the battery saver feature to preserve the battery. One can manually turn on the battery saver feature as well. In addition to that, there is another quick way to adjust Windows 10 for best battery life.

Here is how to quickly adjust Windows 10 for best battery life.

NOTE: This feature is present in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709) and above versions.

Step 1: Click on the battery icon in the system tray (notification area) of the taskbar. If you cannot find the battery icon on the taskbar, click the small up arrow to see all hidden icons.

Step 2: When you see the battery flyout, move the slider to the extreme left of the flyout to optimize Windows 10 for best battery life. Move the slider to the first position on the left to optimize for better battery life. When you choose best battery life, Windows 10 turns on the battery saver mode.

Moving the slider to the extreme right of the flyout will adjust Windows 10 for best performance.
