How To Disable CCleaner Alert Popup In Windows 10

Last Updated on September 25, 2020 by admin 8 Comments

CCleaner program is very popular among Windows users. The program is widely used to free up disk space by deleting junk files generated by Windows as well as third-party applications. In addition to cleaning up junk files, the program can also be used to remove unnecessary entries from the context menu, analyze disk space, repair Windows Registry, and uninstall apps from Windows.

One of the things I am not so happy about CCleaner is its new Alert popup, which appears because of the Smart Cleaning (also known as active monitoring system). By default, the Smart Cleaning system continuously runs in the background and displays Alert messages on the screen when the accumulation of junk files exceeds 1 GB.

The following CCleaner Alert dialog pops up when you can save more than 1 GB of disk space by deleting junk files. Clicking the Click here to open the CCleaner button will open up the Cleaner feature of CCleaner, where you can select applications and Windows programs that you want to select or deselect.

How to Disable CCleaner Alert Popup

The feature is convenient as you don’t need to run CCleaner regularly to free up disk space and optimize your PC. But, at times, the CCleaner Alert popup irritates when we are in the middle of something serious.

One way to avoid CCleaner Alert is to increase the default 1 GB limit to 5 or 10 GB. But the option to increase the limit is available only in the Pro and Pro Plus editions of CCleaner. So if you’re using the free version of CCleaner and don’t like to see the CCleaner Alert popup, you need to turn off the Smart Cleaning (previously known as active monitoring system).

As disabling Smart Cleaning won’t change the default behavior of CCleaner except that it won’t run in the background in search of junk files, it’s safe to turn off the active monitoring system. You can always manually run CCleaner and scan the system to get rid of junk files.

Also, the Smart Cleaning turned on means CCleaner is continuously running in the background to scan for junk files. Turning off the Smart Cleaning will also free up some system resource, relatively small, though. Once you turn off the Smart Cleaning, not only the CCleaner Alert popup will stop making the appearance, but the CCleaner icon will also disappear from the system tray area.

Complete the given below instructions to turn off the Smart Cleaning to get rid of CCleaner Alert popup in the Windows operating system.

Disabling CCleaner Alert popup

Step 1: On the home window of CCleaner, click the Options icon located in the left pane and then switch to the Smart cleaning tab.

Step 2: Here, deselect Tell me when there are junk files to clean checkbox. Next, deselect Enable Smart Cleaning option. Note that you cannot deselect Enable Smart Cleaning option without unchecking the Tell me when there are junk files to clean option.

Click the Yes button when you get the warning message to disable the Smart Cleaning.

That’s it! CCleaner will no more bug you with the alert popup.

TY for your instructions, help – I have un-checked about everything that is to be unchecked – so let’s see what happens. It is so sad, that they kill their own great product with this stupid pop-ups !!

For many years I swore on CCleaner as the MUST HAVE, s much that I paid to have the PRO –
I do not know what changed about since about 2 y, I kept on being swamped with promotional pop-ups. I wrote to them, but no change. So I stopped paying, used the free version. Now I am getting still some pop-ups [less then before] but I simply do not want it. I will write to them one more time and if they don’t stop this useless “spamming” – I will un install CCleaner and put it to RIP
