Windows 7 users who frequently reinstall Windows might want to integrate or slipstream Internet Explorer 10 into the installation DVD or ISO to avoid manually upgrading Internet Explorer 9 to Internet Explorer 10. Slipstreaming Internet Explorer 10 into Windows 7 setup DVD or ISO isn’t a hard job and is possible to perform with the help of Command Prompt.

In the past, we have shown how to create unattended Windows 7 installation, and also how to include your favourite themes, screensavers, and wallpapers in Windows 7 DVD or ISO using RT Seven Lite tool. In this guide, we walk you through the steps that you need to follow in order to integrate Internet Explorer 10 into Windows 7 setup or ISO file.

NOTE: You must need Windows 7 with SP1 in order to upgrade to Internet Explorer 10. If you have a Windows 7 DVD or ISO file without the Service Pack, we recommend you slipstream Service Pack 1 into Windows 7 DVD or ISO file before proceeding with this guide.

Stumbled across this – very useful. Errors to watch for: if you have the wrong index number, the “dism /mount-wim… [etc.]” command will fail. Use “dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:c:\win7\sources\install.wim” to check it.

Some antivirus programs get in the way of the integration commands (“dism /image:c:\mount /add-package /packagepath:c:\updates “) and the fail with access denied 0x80070005. McAfee did it to me. Disable AV and rerun.

    @ J. Ros
Thanks for dropping by and providing the update. I always believed that index number is specific to Windows 7 editions. Will correct it. Thanks again.

The index number for the win7 version is not allways as mentioned here. I got an home premium x64 image with index number 1. Use the get-wiminfo command with dism to view the possible index(es) of your image..

then use that number in the commandline as mentioned above…
