The Documents folder in the Windows operating system is generally used to save important personal files such as Word documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, and text files.
Because the Documents folder is accessed quite often, Windows 11 offers multiple ways to open it.
The following are some ways to open the Documents folder on a Windows 11 PC.
Method 1 of 6
Open the Documents folder from File Explorer on a Windows 11 PC
Step 1: Open This PC, Home, or any folder in the File Explorer.
Step 2: On the left navigation pane, click Documents to open the Documents folder.

Access the Documents folder through search in Windows 11
Step 1: Type Documents in the Start menu search or taskbar search field to open the Documents folder.

Open the Documents folder from the File Explorer address bar in Windows 11
Step 1: Open File Explorer.
Step 2: In the address bar, type Documents and then press the Enter key to navigate to the Documents folder quickly.
Tip: The File Explorer address bar can also be used to launch a website quickly by typing its URL in the address bar. For instance, type google.com to open the website in your default web browser.

Open the Documents folder using the Run command in Windows 11
Step 1: Open the Run command dialog using search or Windows logo + R hotkey.
Step 2: In the field, type Documents or shell:documents and then press the Enter key to open the Documents folder in the File Explorer.

Manually navigate to the Documents folder in Windows 11
Step 1: Open This PC in the File Explorer.
Step 2: Now, double-click the drive where Windows 11 is installed. As you might know, Windows is generally installed on the “C” drive.
Step 3: At the root of the “C” drive, double-click the Users folder to navigate to the same.
Step 4: The Users folder is home to all user profile folders. Here, double-click your profile folder (folder with your username) to open sub-folders like Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Pictures, and Videos.
Step 5: Finally, double-click the Documents folder. That’s it!

Open the Documents folder through Command Prompt or PowerShell in Windows 11
Step 1: Open the Command Prompt or Windows PowerShell via search.
Step 2: Type start C:\Users\userprofilename\Documents and then press the Enter key.
Note that you need to replace userprofilename with the actual user profile name.
